ASSOC

Displays or modifies the association between file extension and file type.

Syntax:

ASSOC [.ext[=[FileType]]]

.ext – The file extension (for example, .html)

FileType – The type of file associated with the given extension.

Usage:

Without parameters ASSOC displays the whole list of the current file type and file extension associations.

With both extension and type specified it changes the extension’s association.

With only extension specified it shows the current association for it.

With only extension and ‘=’ specified (no file type specified) it removes the association.

Example:

Assoc .html=htmlfile
