DEL

Deletes file(s) from computer. The same with ERASE command.

DEL [/p] [/f] [/s] [/q] [/a[:]Attributes] Names

Syntax:

/p – prompts for confirmation to delete the specified file(s).

/f – forces deleting read-only files.

/s – removes files including all subdirectories.

/q – quiet mode (does not prompt for confirmation to delete the specified file(s).

/a:Attributes – deletes files with specific attributes:

Names – file(s) to be deleted. Wildcards (?, *) are allowed.

Usage:

Files deleted with DEL command can be undeleted with special utilities, i.e. DEL cannot be used for secure deletion.

If you specify a folder name in Names, all files in this folder will be deleted.

Multiple values of attributes are allowed.

Examples:

Delete all files in folder:

DEL d:\OldFiles\*.*

Or

DEL d:\OldFiles

Delete only archive files:

DEL /a:a d:\OldFiles
